Rummaging through some old writings of mine, I found a really silly poem I randomly wrote one day while buzzed on caffeine (about two years ago). Ha ha! I used to be soo SO addicted to caffeine. Here we go! An original by Amelia Thompson. Prepare to be dazzled!
Caffeine: An Ode
Oh caffeine, why do I love youWhen all you do is hurt my head?
Oh caffeine, how I embrace you
Though I know you keep me from bed.
Caffeine, caffeine
Interrupting my dreams
You make me dependant
On each of your schemes
Each day I need more,
But I cannot ignore
how distant you keep
my body from sleep.
Thus the cycle remains,
But I'm taking the reigns.
I won't budge one iota...
Once I finish this soda.
There! Don't you feel entertained by my creative mind? Now I need to write one called "Motherhood: An Ode". It also will point out the lack of sleep in my life. That, and perhaps poke fun at my deteriorating vocabulary. (There are few things more shocking than reading an impressive and elloquent college paper and then realizing that I AM THE ONE WHO WROTE IT!) Oh man. I'm going to try this sleeping thing again. Goodnight!
