Went to the City of Roses

Do you ever catch your child doing something they're not supposed to, and then pretend not to notice so that you're child doesn't think you're condoning their behavior? Me neither. I was just curious. Okay, fine. I might be guilty of this ghastly parenting technique when particularly occupied. ;-) For instance, while frantically finishing our packing last Friday morning before our trip, I may have seen Bella on all fours in the kitchen lapping up water from a bowl which was most definitely intended for the cat. Or course, she was pretending to be the cat. Being the good parent that I am, I grabbed the camera and ducked behind the counter so I could sneak photographic evidence...but then she stopped so I never did get a picture. I did however escape undetected and Bella continued to happily splash in the water...from an upright sitting position. I continued to pack, pleased that at least my daughter was no longer following me around whining for the attention she had not received all morning.

Once I finally crammed the last few items into our giant yellow duffle and triple checked our list, I walked purposefully into the kitchen so I could act surprised and displeased to "discover" that Bella was splashing Kitty's water everywhere. (Tee hee!) After all, there was no avoiding it since I needed to do the dishes as a final before-we-leave-town task. Having been caught "wet-handed," Bella got the fantastic job of sopping up the water with a towel. So we worked side by side until our tasks were complete. And before long, Daddy was home and generously helped wrap up a couple more house items (like take out stinky trash), and we were off! And thus we began our short vacation.

Upon arriving in Portland, we had just enough time to hop in our rental car and visit the Wendy's drive thru before sliding into our seats just in time for the graduation ceremony. And a ceremony it was. Soooo long. Maybe three hours long. But it was so worth it to see my baby sister receive that coveted diploma.

The rest of our short visit was spent in the company of family at various locations. From a graduation party, to the buffet, the Rose Gardens, and a hot dog roast in the front yard, I think it is safe to say that a good time was had by all. Here are a few picture highlights of the trip.

P.S. I will try to post regularly, but be warned that I may be around less now that the first trimester blahs are over and my energy is kicking back in. Time for some deep cleaning and out-of-the-house activities again! I love second trimester!!!

:) Im trying to take the McMamma approach..letting her go naked. It worked the first day, successfull, no accidents. The 2nd day we most of the day naked...she tried to put on a diaper and a pull up...so i told her she could put her big girl panties on...this worked for quiet awhile, but one of the times she went to the bathroom herself...she got distracted by the contents under the sink...and peed on the floor. grr. Today we were out running around, and she made it to our first 2 stops dry..yay! changed her clothes at the 3rd stop..and she wet her change of clothes...not so yay, so she had to wear a diaper. umm our 'orginal' method is 1 m&m for peeing in the potty 2 for pooping...she does know what it is shes doing..and when she needs to go..mommy just needs to be more consistent in asking/taking her...SILLY MOMMY! (sorry for the novel)
