When Your Daughter Doesn't Want Practical Shoes...Just Add Jewels

The time was upon us.  Princess was about the bust the seams of her beloved tennis shoes, and it was time to buy a new pair.  I had just a few requirement:

1.  Inexpensive
2.  Something Princess could put on by herself aka velcro
3.  Good quality

Princess has a few requirement of her own:

1.  Comfortable
2.  Pretty
3.  Preferably pink

So when My Stud and I came up with this excellent specimen for just over $10 the other day, you can imagine that Princess was not pleased.  They were lacking in the "pretty" and "pink" departments.  She would rather have purchased the semi-awful ones that look like they got hit with metallic graffiti and a rhinestone truck.  However, armed with promises of getting to decorate her plain white shoes, Princess declared that they would be "fine."
We pulled out my giant stash of jewels and went to work.  Then we had a photo shoot during which I realized my darling daughter has finally outgrown her "I hate the camera phase" which lasted the better part of the last two years.  Thank God.

If she had had her way, Princess would have covered every inch of those things with sparkly bit of delight. If I had had my way, I would have kept it simple and done the semi-circle of clear rhinestones and the jewels on the velcro straps.  It's all about compromise.

Do ya think she likes them? ;-)

Now the question is, how long do I have before I get to start re-gluing jewels?
