2010 - 2011 MOPS Crafts

Photo from MOPS.org

Did I ever mention how much I have come to love MOPS recently?  As I may have failed to share on my blog, I found a lovely group of dear friends in my local MOPS chapter over a year ago, just as we were beginning to thaw out around these parts.  I am certain that the Lord (via my chiropractor - a mother of preschoolers herself) led me to that MOPS group, and I found my dearest New Mexico friends there.  I needed them so desperately at that time as I was in the thick of that most lonely time after a move - the time that comes after the boxes are all unpacked and in between finding acquaintances and finding true friends.  Have you ever been befriended when you were so parched for friendship that it hurt?  Let me tell you, there is nothing like it.  These are the gals I know I can call if life all of a sudden turns sour.  They are the people I called when I had a miscarriage in December and needed help with my kids so I could scurry off to doctor's appointments.  They are the women who will allow me to support them in similar ways.  Those types of beautiful ladies are not easy to come by, so I feel incredibly blessed that I have more than one friend like that here.   Quite frankly, I plan to keep them, even though this town doesn't plan on keeping me for too much longer.

Also in regards to MOPS, I may not have mentioned that I eventually came to plan and direct the crafts for that group.  It was a awesome way to give back to the group that had so welcomed me, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.  I had the best intentions of making tutorials for each craft along the way...but I didn't quite get around to it.  Now I get to play catch up!   Below is a list of crafts that our MOPS group did this past year.  I will (slowly but surely?) write a post for each one and link back to the list here.  Unfortunately these posts will be sorely lacking in photos (since I'm not planning on re-doing each craft for the sake of blog post photos), but I promise my instructions will be easy to follow should anyone desire to try their hand at one of these crafts. :-)

Without further ado, here is the list:

October:  Fall photo frames (w/ photo of child from the pumpkin patch)
November:  lip balm
December: hot chocolate
January: homemade laundry detergent
February: photo coasters
March: no craft - gardening/canning/cake decorating workshops
April: apple pie
May: sugar scrub

Look forward to some craft posts coming up soon!  And, while we're on the subject, if your a mother of one or more children age 5 or younger, you might check out a local MOPS group, especially if you're aching for mom friends.   Especially if you're a stay-at-home-mom who doesn't know many other stay-at-home-moms and feel somewhat isolated so that's part of why you like to blog.  I'm just saying... ;-)

I did MOPS the first year Q was born, loved it! Since then one of my friends has become the coordinator, and they went from being MOPS affiliate to just a Mom's group in the are. I didn't join last year because I had a newborn, but I do believe I'll be going this coming fall!

I thought about joining, but its kinda of a long drive for me. But it sounds like it would be fun! I might just have to try it out though. I need something since we are so lacking in fellowship at church.
